Death of Mr. James Harlow

7 November 1950 The Tumut and Adelong Times

Died in the Gundagai Hospital on Tuesday last, Mr. James Harlow, aged 85 years.

Deceased was a well known personality, who had resided in this district his entire lifetime.

In his early life he was associated with his family in work on the land, and as a young man was an outstanding athlete, being one of the fastest runners ever to race in southern N.S.W.

A keen student, and a widely read man, the late Jim Harlow was undoubtedly one of the leading phrenologists in the Commonwealth.

In later years deceased devoted much of his time in the quest for gold, and opened up many shows in this district.

Until a few years ago deceased experienced remarkably good health and his retentive memory held many stories of early Gundagai history, which he often recounted.

Deceased never married.

Two sisters, residing in the Tumut district, survive him.
