Emergency Transport Committee to be Formed in Tumut

An emergency transport committee is to be set up in Tumut today for the purpose of restricting the transport of goods to those vital to the life of the community. 

It will be the duty of the committee to assemble information concerning the number of vehicles available in Tumut and district suitable for the transport of goods. 

It will be necessary to classify the vehicles into local and long-distance haulage possibilities.

When the system of replacing rail transport with road vehicles, comes into operation fully it will the responsibility of the committee to ensure economic loading of vehicles. 

Transport to and from Sydney appears to be the main concern and special attention will have to be paid to ensuring that full loads are obtained each way.
