Exchange Rooms Subscription for Floods

The Maitland Mercury & Hunter River General Advertiser

10 July 1852

At the request of several gentlemen who were at the Exchange Rooms at the usual hour yesterday, Messrs Alexander, Reeve, and T. Woolley, undertook to receive and apply subscriptions in aid of the sufferers by the devastating floods at the Murrumbidgee.

Mr. Dawes consented to act as secretary and treasurer, and Mr. Davies to collect subscriptions.

Upwards of £80 was subscribed in the room.

It is expected that further information as to the extent of the ravages of the flood will be received by the mails due this morning.
