Landcare To Manage Nursery

February 18, 2000 Tumut & Adelong Times

Tumut's Landcare Groups will take over the running of the Shire nursery to grow plants for land stabilisation projects.

Council last year decided to discontinue funding to the nursery, which had previously provided plants for parks and community projects.

Under the lease, the Landcare group will continue to assist Council in growing plants for public projects.

Council's General Manager Chris Adams said the lease of the nursery to an incorporated body such as a Landcare group would solve the problems with supervision at the nursery.
