Gobarralong Bridge Damaged

23 August 1899 The Gundagai Independent and Pastoral, Agricultural and Mining Advocate

The recent flood in the Murrumbidgee gave the bridge at Gobarralong its first trial of strength with flood waters.

The structure did not withstand the trial successfully, as the centre of the bridge has now a slight bend on it, the water shifting the piles some 8 or 10 inches.

A great deal of debris collected against the bridge, and it took several days to remove the obstructions. It is freely predicted by residents that the next flood, if any way severe, will sweep the bridge away.
