A number of business firms at Cootamundra, Harden and Young within the last few months have been heavily fined for selling tobacco made at Tumut on which excise duty has not been paid.

The latest prosecution are those   at Temora Police Court, where Bartholomew Noonan, of Mirrool, and Gregory Laurence Mulcahy, of Springdale, were each fined £25, with costs for having tobacco in their possession on which the duty had not been paid.
