14 December 1949 Daily Advertiser (Wagga Wagga)

A motor lorry that got out of control near Talbingo yesterday killed 37 sheep valued at £3 each and injured several others.

The lorry was carting gravel from the Blowering gravel pit to Talbingo when the brakes failed near the Blowering bridge across the Tumut River.

The sheep, which belonged to Mr. H. Robertson, of Gundagai, were travelling from Gundagai to snow-lease country at Rule's Point.

The driver, Carl Hickson, of Mosman, was not injured and the truck sustained only slight damage.
