Marked Tree Line and Wantabadgery Road Work

27 June 1868 The Gundagai Times and Tumut, Adelong and Murrumbidgee District Advertiser

Those who apprehended that the Marked tree line between Gundagai and Tumut would suffer in consequence of the changed route of the mail, will be glad to learn that it is to be properly metalled, and that the culverts are to receive due attention forthwith.

'We are glad to assure our readers that the new road between Gundagai and Wantabadgery will shortly be opened for traffic, the bridges, &c, being well advanced towards completion.

This will be a great advantage as it will afford a direct route to Wagga Wagga on which transit will not be impeded by wet weather.

This, as all teamsters well know, was not the case as regards the lower river road, which was perfectly impassable in times of flood, and could not have been rendered otherwise.
