17 October 1917

A meeting in London celebrated the centeniary of the death of Tadeusz Kosciuszko, the Polish general and patriot, who died on the 15th October, 1817, by the fall of his horse over a precipice.

Viscount Bryce sent the following message to the meeting:-

"Kosciuszko was one of the most pure and valiant heroes in history.

His influence is still felt today, when Poland has the prospect of recovering her freedom."
