Mr William Paterick, of Kiandra, Died

Mr William Paterick, of Kiandra, died on Monday, two days before his 80th birthday.

Mr Paterick, who was born in Kiandra, was Australian skiing champion in 1923. He was selected to represent Australia in the 1924 Olympic Game, but could not afford the fare to Norway.

He was a gold miner before becoming Kiandra's postmaster.

He is survived by 10 children, including three married daughters living in Canberra. His wife, Florence, died three years ago.

Mr Paterick was buried yesterday after a service in All Saints Church of England, Tumut.
