Obituary - Mr. Edward Quilty

The death occurred at the Gundagai District Hospital recently of Mr. Edward Patrick Quilty, well-known identity of the Tumut and Gundagai districts, at the age of 75 years.

Deceased suffered a stroke last week when the news reached him that his son Bernie (P.O.W. in Japan) had arrived in Australia.

He passed away several days after his son's arrival   in Gundagai.

The late Mr. Quilty was born at Windowie, Gilmore, being a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Quilty.

He purchased and conducted several district properties in the Tumut and Gundagai districts and was a highly esteemed citizen.

He married Miss Kathleen O'Keefe, who predeceased him.

Surviving members of the family are Bernie (A.I.F.). Edward (Bombowlee), Margaret (Mrs F. Barton, Gundagai) and Gertrude (Mrs. Pat Halloran, Tarcutta); also one brother, James (Wyalong), and two sisters, Margaret (Mrs Fred Downing of Gadara), and Kate (Mrs. Wm. O'Brien, of Sydney). 

The late Mr. Quilty retired several years ago and came to Tumut to reside, out on the death of his wife he went to live with his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Barton.

The funeral took place on Wednesday, the remains being interred in the Roman Catholic portion of the Tumut New Cemetery.
