Obituary - Mr. Tasso Ottley

19 June 1951 The Murrumbidgee Irrigator (Leeton)

The death occurred in the Leeton District Hospital on June 7 of Mr. Tasso Ottley, aged 82 years and 8 months.

The late Mr. Ottley was a pensioner and had resided with his son Tom at Farm 579, Yanco.

He was born at Reedy Flat, now called Batlow and in 1905 at Tumut was married to Mary Ann Eurell, daughter of late Thomas and Rose Eurell.

He engaged in mining and sleeper cutting and prior to coming to the, Irrigation Areas 24 years ago had been in the following districts: Batlow, Kiandra, Tumut, Bimbi, Grenfell.

Deceased is survived by his widow, three sons William Thomas (Yanco), John James (Merrylands) and Harold Joseph (Yanco).

He is also survived by two brothers, Norman (Barellan), Harold (Blackburn) and two sisters, Misses Dora and Aimee Ottley, of Blackburn.

One daughter and two sisters pre-deceased him.   

Burial took place in the Church of England portion of the Leeton Cemetery on June 8.

The pall bearers were three sons, also J. and A. Eurell and R. Smith (nephews).

Chief mourners were wife, sons and daughter-in-law Mrs. H. J. Ottley, Mr. and Mrs. P. Eurell (brother-in-law), and sister-in-law), Mrs. Hethernigton (sister-in-law) also, nieces and nephews and many others.

The services at St. Peter's Church and at the graveside were conducted by the Rev. Vincent.

Ashton's were funeral directors.
