Scarcity of Working Bullocks

South Australian

27 June 1845

Port Phillip. Scarcity of Working Bullocks.

A gentleman recently arrived in this province from Adelaide, has been riding about the country in search of serviceable three and four year old bullocks (broken or unbroken), for the purpose of taking them to Adelaide, to be worked in the mining operations in that colony: after a considerable degree of trouble he has been enabled to collect but three hundred head at high prices.

The severe work in which these animals will be employed soon wears them out, and there is every prospect of an ensuing large demand for them.
