The Riverine Grazier (Hay)

18 August 1936

A Tumut Tragedy. Sydney, Tuesday.

Laurence Sidney Piper (29), of Goobragandra Station, in the Tumut district, was found shot dead, with his body halfway through a fence, in the Bombowlee Creek, seven miles from Tumut.

Piper had sustained shocking head injuries, and death was apparently instantaneous.

Piper was a well known resident, and one of the best horsemen in the district. He was to have been married next month.
