Tumut Milk Continues to Flow

2 July 1970 The Canberra Times

Yass, Wednesday.

Tumut milk is being delivered in Yass, despite efforts by Yass Municipal Council to prevent it being sold here.

The council decided at its last meeting that a vendor's certificate would not be issued to Mr. D. MacDonnell, who has a contract with Tumut Dairy Co, because it felt this would prejudice the interests of a Yass dairyman.

However, Mr MacDonnell is able to supply milk which meets the standards required by the NSW Public Health Ordinances and has gone ahead with deliveries in the town.

In addition, cartoned milk from Tumut appeared in Yass today for the first time.

Distribution of milk comes under the authority of the newly created Dairy Industry Board from today.

It is not known whether the council will, or can, take any action against the Tumut suppliers.
