Tumut Railway Traffic

4 May 1920 Cootamundra Herald

Never in the history of the district has the traffic at the railway station become so congested as during the last few month.

Stationmaster Benning and his staff are going at high tension early and late, and the situation is getting acute instead of being relieved, owing to the vast numbers of live stock depastured in the mountains during the summer months now being brought down and trucked away to their home stations (in all probability to die of thirst and hunger if rain does not fall out back in the course of the next few weeks), and the farmers rushing their chaff maize on to the central markets.
