Vaccination Figures

The Goulburn Herald and County of Argyle Advertiser

12 October 1859

The report of the superintendent of the Vaccine Institution for the year 1858, has been presented to the Government, by which it appears that 637 individuals have been vaccinated at the institution in Sydney, and a supply of vaccine lymph has been sent to medical practitioners in the country for the vaccination of 2,092 persons.

This is independent of the annual returns sent by the district Government vaccinators. On the whole, however, a general apathy in this respect has been prevalent.

By the returns supplied by medical practitioners in the country, we find that at Binalong, 35 persons had been vaccinated; Camden, 63; Tumut, 55; Lower Araluen, 226; Albury, 19; Queanbeyan, 80; Adelong, 44; Braidwood, 25.
