A new technical college, costing $600,000 would be built at Tumut, the NSW Minister for Public Works, Mr Punch, announced today.

Mr Punch said a contract for the construction of the college had been let, and designed specifically for Tumut but would also be the basis of a design for future technical colleges in medium-size country towns.

The Minister for Education, Mr Willis, said the college, due to be completed late this year, would provide classes in secretarial studies, fashion, welding and automotive engineering, ceramics, ticket writing and cake decorating.
